Lake Chala is the Crater Lake that marks the border between Tanzania and Kenya on the eastern edge of Mount Kilimanjaro, not far from the town of Moshi. Depending on the time of year, it ranges in colour from deep blue to turquoise and green, it is surrounded by a 100 meters high crater rim. The lake is fed by groundwater flows, which come from Mount Kilimanjaro, fed and drained underground with a rate of about 10 million m³ / year. Lake Chala and the surrounding area is spectacularly interesting, not just because of Kilimanjaro that can be seen on clear days towering in the background but also because it thrives with life.

Itinerary for Lake Chala
In the morning your driver/guide will pick you up from the hotel in Moshi/Arusha. You will drive to Lake Chala with a packed lunch box and drinking water. Upon arrival you will see the beautiful private/hidden game reserve overlooking the crater lake. Our guide will take you to the small crater along dry river then after hike to the big crater. You will take a time to refresh mind and the back down to the lake. Spend the day swimming, exploring, kayaking (optional).
You will experience the natural beauties of the green scenery, landscape and will also have the opportunity to meet local people doing their daily activity. There is a very high possibility of spotting the baboon monkey, velvet monkey, blue monkey and many different birds, that live in this wonderful savannah land.
You will then be driven back to Moshi in the late afternoon.
There is also the option of staying overnight in the lodge or camping site. If you are camping, you can either bring your own equipment or hire in Moshi town. There is a bar that serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a restaurant that serves snacks and main meals. Staying overnight gives you the opportunity of going on longer hikes, fishing, and having time to relax next to a camp fire.
Kinukamori is located in Chagga Land in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Its crystal clear water originates in the natural springs of volcanic rocks on Mount Kilimanjaro. You will be able to visit Kinukamori on top and bottom. This picturesque spot is great for swimming or just relaxing and enjoying the refreshing breeze from the waterfall. Starting at 8.30 am a one hour drive from Moshi will take us to Marangu Village, where we will begin our short 20 minute hike to Kinukamori Waterfall. Along the way you will pass through beautiful forest past tall Eucalyptus trees among many others. At Kinukamori we will be serving a picnic lunch before making our way back to Moshi.
Go of the beaten track and watch a herd of elephants while a few 100 meters further you see a Maasai in red shuka (cloth) herding his cattle. West Kilimanjaro, or more specific, the Enduimet Wildlife Management Area is the place to be. This area is protected, but not a national park, so human beings may reside here. Here, Maasai and wildlife live in peace with each other. It is truly a hidden gem as it is still undiscovered, you don’t have to follow the roads and the traditional life of Maasai makes this your real African experience. Elephants are a come sight here as it is a corridor between Amboseli NP in Kenya and Arusha NP in Tanzania. Furthermore, you will find giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, kudu and gerenuk. Stay in the tents while enjoying the born fire ( Bush Television ) relax and enjoy the fantastic views of the Maasai plains.
Day 1: Drive to Enduimet through the greener lower slopes of the Kilimanjaro, will stop at Ngasurai gate for registrations then after will proceed to Sinya camp – Game drive on route with a following hot lunch at the Camp. After setting up our mobile tents, around 05:00pm will jump in the car with evening game drive, will visit the Sinya Pool and then drive to the Kenyan boarder to witness herds of elephants, hike to the top of Endonyo Etirapa Hill for Sunset and views of Kilimanjaro, Meru, Namanga and Longido mountains.
After beautiful sundown will descend and drive back to the camp.
At the camp will have a dinner and then bush party will begins there with the bonfire accompany you.

Day 2: After breakfast will have a walk to this plains, passing through Maasai village in the area. Enjoy a nature walk in the morning with your Maasai guide. Late afternoon will be back to the camp for a hot lunch, take a short break then will pack our staffs and drive back to Moshi.

Spend a day with us in a traditional Maasai village, and get to know the culture of this unique people. Afterwards we drive to the hot springs of Kikuletwa, where we enjoy a relaxing bath.A natural clean spring water. Ideal for swimming in the warm water and relaxation. The drive from Moshi to Kikuletwa Hot Springs will start heading to TPC Sugarcane plantation then we'll take the way to Kikavu vallage/on paved road toward Arusha, before turning left onto gravel road(BOMA NG'OMBE) about 30 minutes later. The road will take you through gorgeous African country side past bush land, dry riverbeds, baobab and acacia trees among many others.
You will drive to the slopes of Kilimanjaro, up to Materuni village. From there you will hike for about 30 minutes and pass by the local coffee farmers where you will get a chance to hear how local farmers grow coffee and process it till it’s sold. Also you will get time to prepare your own coffee and drink and take some home with you. This will take about an hour from Moshi town. After this you will walk for 45 minutes to the waterfall, passing villages of the Chagga farm(Shamba) which is a native tribe that lives on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Near the waterfall there is a picnic site,there you will have a lunch and a possibility to rest and enjoy the nature around. You will see a variety of exotic plants and trees, coffee and banana trees, different fruits and animals, especially many different birds.
Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village & Museum is the first authentic Maasai Boma and Museum with overnight facilities in Tanzania. Olpopongi provides a unique Maasai & wildlife experience in the West-Kilimanjaro Maasailand, Just 74 km from Moshi While at the village you will share the authentic Maasai life & culture. The income obtained from your tour supports local Maasai families with water, food, employment, personal income, medical treatments and education. All Maasai - jewelry on sale is hand-made and produced by the local Maasai women of other nearby villages. All Museum tours & walking safaris are performed by experienced English speaking Maasai guides.
You will be picked up from your hotel at 0900hrs and transferred to the Olpopongi Maasai Village. It is roughly a one and a half hour drive from Moshi town. While at the village you will be given a tour of the village and museum to get a better understanding of Maasai culture and tradition. You will also go on a short walking safari and learn about Maasai defence techniques and their natural medicines. A traditional lunch will be prepared for you in the afternoon. After your tour of the village you will be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi.
Ndoro Waterfall, is located in the beautiful country side surrounding Marangu village. A one hour hike through the lush landscapes of Chagga land will take you to the entrance hut of Ndoro, where you will be given a hiking stick to assist you to the base of the fall. Simple steps, occasionally steep, with banisters consisting of thick tree branches, have been edged into the hill and zigzag toward the bottom. As you near the waterfall, you can feel the temperature drop due to the refreshing spray of water. The entrance area is well maintained and makes for a great rest stop after having climbed back up.Later you'll have an opportunity to taste the Banana bear. After that all you'll be transferred to the Ascent Chagga caves there you'll learn about Chagga life and history in general,war among chagga people with others tribe and you will finish with the Coffee tour from picking to drinking.
