7 Day Basic Camping Safari

Everyone loves to dreaming, living and exploring. But there are Safari enthusiasts who take the matter to the next level from tracking a bird with her prey, to paying attention to a lovely insect climbing on the flowers, to following a herd to its territory it’s all about exploring. Oclaa Adventures warmly welcomes you to dig deep the bushes and savannas of Tanzania.

Day 1

Moshi - Tarangire National Park.

Accomodation; Kigongoni Campsite.

Meals; Lunch & Dinner.

After breakfast, you depart for Tarangire National Park. Arrive in time for lunch at Tarangire wildlife lodge, after lunch relaxes for a short while and later goes for an afternoon game drive, Tarangire is a park of giant baobab trees, rolling savannah and acacia parkland.

It is famous for its dense wildlife population, which is most spectacular in the dry season between June and September. It is during this period that thousands of animals- wildebeest, zebra, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, and Oryx migrate from the dry Maasai steppe to the Tarangire River in search of water. The predators – lion, leopard and others- as is the custom in the savanna follow closely by birds are also abundant here and over 350 species have been recorded. In the evening you will have dinner and overnight at your Kigongoni campsite.


Day 2

Tarangire National Park - Lake Eyasi

Accommodation;  Campsite.

Meals; Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Rise early to enjoy a morning game drive in this beautiful park.  Late morning you will leave the park to drive to Lake Eyasi (approximately 3 hour drive).  This afternoon you can meet the Datoga tribe, famous for being the ‘blacksmiths of Tanzania’.  Later afternoon your guide can take you for a walking safari around the edge of the lake, spotting out for some of the beautiful birdlife for which Lake Eyasi is famous.  You will have dinner prepared by your safari chef and overnight at Lake Eyasi campsite. Please note the campsite facilities here are quite basic – all part of the adventure!

Day 3

Track the Hadzabe bushmen – Serengeti

Accommodation; Seronera Campsite.

Meals; Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Following an early breakfast at the campsite you will take a walk through the scattered bush to the Bushmen’s home, accompanied by your guide and a local guide that is able to translate the language of the Hadzabe tribe, which the bushmen belong to. The Hadzabe bushmen live in groups divided into approximately 10 families and they are very welcoming to visitors.  You will be able to experience their typical bush life including their unique style of hunting for a variety of game meat as well as rodents, insects, roots and leaves.  They sleep in caves, without fear of the wild animals that may pass by the in the night.  After spending the morning with the Hadzabe you will head back to the campsite for lunch.  In the afternoon you will head towards the Serengeti (literal meaning ‘endless plains’) viewing wildlife along the way as you pass through Ngorongoro Conservation Area.  You will arrive in the Serengeti in time for a late afternoon game drive before setting up camp in the National Park.

Day 4

Serengeti National Park / Full Day.

Accommodation; Serena Campsite.

Meals; Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Early in the morning departs for an early morning game drive. Return for breakfast, collect picnic lunch and proceed for a full day of game viewing in Serengeti. You will have a picnic lunch in the course of a day. Later in the afternoon you will be back to the lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite.

Day 5

Serengeti Full Day

Accommodation; Seronera Campsite.

Meals; Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Early in the morning departs for an early morning game drive. Return for breakfast, collect picnic lunch and proceed for a full day of game viewing in Serengeti. You will have a picnic lunch in the course of a day. Later in the afternoon you will be back to the lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight at Seronera Campsite.

Day 6

Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

Accommodation; Simba Campsite.

Meals; Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Wake early for a morning game drive then back to camp for brunch and to pack up your gear.  Then you’ll head off to Ngorongoro Crater, viewing wildlife on the way.  You will have dinner prepared at your campsite on the crater rim and overnight there (be prepared for the noises of zebras, maybe even elephants, walking through camp at night!)

Day 7

Ngorongoro - Arusha / Moshi.

Departure.

Meals; Breakfast & Lunch.

Wake up early morning for breakfast at 6am (early starts for the best wildlife viewing) and then descend into the Crater floor for a game drive.  Here in this wonderful caldera you may see lions, leopard, buffalo, elephant, black rhino, zebra, hippo, wildebeest, hyena and more!  Your lunch will be served at the picnic site in the crater- Ngoitoktok swamp- you will be able to eat your lunch alongside the hippos in the pool!  Following lunch at approximately 2pm you will ascend the crater to pass through the conservation area to start your return to Moshi (arrive 5:30- 6pm).
